Three was our lucky number in Gatineau this past weekend, as Newmarket Synchro served Ontario proud as every one of our teams successfully placed in podium positions, at the first inter-provincial Ontario-Quebec Cup.

A warm and sincere THANK YOU to Suzanne Pagé-Pytura and the amazing Les Fées d'eau de Gatineau Synchro Club and their Volunteers, for the tremendous efforts in hosting this meet, and ensuring a huge success for all attendees. It was a pleasure to get to know our neighbours and their superb hospitality. It will be a tough act to follow next year in Ontario !! Merci Suzanne!!

This synchro meet, was a first not only for our respective provinces, but also brought with it many firsts for our club. It was a first bus ride this season to an event so far away. The bus ride was so much fun, as we shared seats and stories with Burlington Synchro. Thank you Burlington Synchro for being awesome bus buddies. It was a first for our Team Chaperones to have to hustle through so many gelling sessions in such a short period of time, and make those trips to Subway with the charm of Quebec at every turn. Special THANKS to Carol, Robyn and Sara.you made it special! It was a first for our swimmers to be out of province competing, and we bring home a new level of Club and team spirit, and great pride, with which to forge ahead. And it was a first for our Club colours of Red and Gold to be on the podium in Quebec , representing our Club and our province proudly in all of our Team Events!!! Tier 3 Team - Sixth Place; Tier 4 Combo Team - Bronze Medal , Third Place; Tier 5 Team - Fourth Place , as well as many personal bests.

Way to go Newmarket Synchro . we have so much to be proud of.

The Banquet was so much fun, with the official's entertainment definitely stealing the karaoke spotlight. Athletes and Coaches better get ready for stealing back the limelight at the next event. At the end, came the crowning glory of the Awards Ceremony. It was AMAZING!!! The setting was reminiscent of a theatre-in-the-round, with all the athletes represented in full colours, and the Quebec hospitality continued. The music, the singing.and wow.the dancing!!! Everyone celebrated as only one could in such a friendly, exciting atmosphere, as more friendships were made and the smiles and laughter were contagious. Everyone cheered for everyone, and everyone there was a winner! We thank Quebec for your spirit of camaraderie and look forward to extending the same warm welcome to you, our new friends, next season.
