NEWMARKET , Ontario , April 21, 2005 - At a special awards ceremony, the Town of Newmarket , honoured 21 outstanding community contributors during the 2005 Newmarket Volunteer Achievement Awards.

PRESENT: 

The 2005 Newmarket Volunteer Achievement Awards for the organizer of the year, was presented to Mary Dwyer, President, Newmarket Synchro. This award was recognizes organizers that have shared their time to enhance sports, culture and community activities of a local or community group.

Newmarket Synchro was thrilled to have Mary Dwyer chosen for this very prestigious award, and Mary was "humbled and honoured to receive this award amongst the company of such amazing community ambassadors and dignitaries".

The evening was filled with many memorable highlights shared with family, friends and most importantly, Newmarket Synchro members. The Award Ceremony was led by Mayor Tom Taylor, and MP Belinda Stronach was on hand to express her appreciation for the volunteerism with our community. Chad McCleave, Councillor - Ward 1, presented Mary with a beautiful watch with the Town of Newmarket emblem beautifully engraved on the face, a wonderful and most appropriate expression of appreciation for Mary's endless hours given in support of our pursuit of excellence in synchronized swimming at Newmarket Synchro. The evening was topped of by wonderful local entertainment and a lovely reception attended by all.
