Newmarket Synchro Wins at Central North Regionals
April 10, 2005


Twelve Podium Finishes

Variety Village hosted a wonderful Central North Regionals meet this weekend, with over 200 athletes in attendance. For two days, the athletes strived for excellence, and Newmarket Synchro rose to the challenge. In addition to the figures competition, with five podium awards, and many of our swimmers achieving new personal bests, we had seven (7) routines entered in the competition, and all seven came home with a podium finish.

Red and Gold stood tall and proud accepting the following awards:

Routines on the Podium:

Tier 5 Duet won the Gold Medal * - Swimmers are Jocelyn Bourrie and Ali Davies, coached by Mary-Jane Ling.

Tier 4/5 Combo won the Gold Medal * - Swimmers are Jocelyn Bourrie, Holly Caldwell, Ali Davies, Leah Gater, Lea Gucciardi, Erin Milner and Patricia Moore and Morgan Pulchinski, coached by Mary-Jane Ling and Jennifer Dwyer.

Tier 3 Team won the Gold Medal * - Swimmers are Catherine Bourrie, Holly Caldwell, Natalie Craparotta, Melanie Fairbarn, Leah Gater, Leah Gucciardi (alternate), Vanessa Laxton, Morgan Pulchinski and Sarah Storms, coached by Jennifer Dwyer.

Tier 5 Team won the Silver Medal * - Swimmers are Jocelyn Bourrie, Ali Davies, Katie Hildebrant, Erin Milner, and Patricia Moore, coached by Mary-Jane Ling.

Tier 1 Team won the Bronze Medal - Swimmers are Caitlin Bate, Stephanie Bourrie, Sarah Condie, Shelby Harding, Melissa Norrie, Celyn Oliver, and Lisa Saunders, coached by Kendra Jacobs.

Tier 2 Team won Fourth Place Ribbon - Swimmers are Siobhan Basdeo , Jordan Denton , Carlin Jessop, Tori Kleinsteuber, Nadine Krelove, Katherine Richard, and Kaitlin Sibbald, coached by Mary-Jane Ling.

Tier 2 Team won Fifth Place Ribbon - Swimmers are Stephanie Good, Paige Hyatt, Denise Johnson, Samantha Jenkins, Hilary Jenkins, Fallyn Thompson, Elora Vink, and Caitlin Zeran, coached by Sarah Stroud.

* In addition to these amazing accomplishments by our fine young athletes, this Meet qualified our Tier 3 Team, our 4/5 Combo, our Tier 5 Duet and our Tier 5 Team, to proudly represent our Central Region with their respective routines at the April 23 rd 24 th, 2005, Ontario/Quebec Cup , to be held in Gatineau, Quebec. What an exciting trip that is going to be!!! Way to Go Teams!!!

The results of this meet are a tribute to the great synergy that exists between our swimmers and coaches this year, and we are extremely proud of them as they continue to break new ground and set new records. The pursuit of excellence continues, and we look forward to watching the growth in all areas continue. We are more proud of all of our athletes and coaches than words can express, and we can only hope that they can feel our pride, and that they are all also extremely proud of themselves. Synchro is Teamwork and our Teams are the Best
